Jaertek Delight Another New Customer in Norway

Jaertek Delight Another New Customer in Norway

On the outskirts of Stavanger in Norway sits Promet AS, specialists in precision machining. They have recently been working with Planit reseller Jaertek and after seeing Edgecam demonstrated by Kristian Vold decided to make an investment.

Jaertek provided full expert software training and installed Edgecam to drive their 5 Axis machines, which are used to manufacture their range of high quality turbine blades.

Production Manager Mr Geir Terje Refsland is delighted with the Company’s investment in Edgecam:

“We have been able to learn Edgecam very quickly and find it easy to use. The training we received from Kristian was very clear and easy to understand. I particularly like the facility to update the stock and fixtures in Edgecam when compared to other CAM systems. I also like the castellation grooving which we have started to use. We now use our Edgecam 5 Axis to help prepare our range of precision components and when combined with our ceramic tooling is able to deliver machined parts to a much higher quality and to greater tolerances. I am pleased with our investment in Edgecam and our latest Mazak Variaxis 730 AC Machine. The combination works really well for us.”

The investment cost for ceramic tooling is high, but ensures a high quality finish by dissipating the heat away from the part, helping to maintain a constant temperature throughout the component during manufacture.

To see Edgecam in action at Proserve, visit the Planit YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/planitsoftware), where you can view the simultaneous 5 axis blisk machine using both ceramic tooling and traditional carbide tooling. The material used in the manufacture of these blades is Inconel 718 or Inco as it is often referred to. This nickel chromium based supperalloy is notoriously difficult to machine, however the investment by Promet in Edgecam and Mazak has given them an advantage over their competition, which they are keen to exploit.

Testimonials

Thanks to Edgecam, we have cut the time to machine on one particular part by seven hours. We have reduced the cost of machining each component substantially and have managed to reduce our tooling costs on certain projects by 37%.
