Support Vacancies:

We are currently seeking to fill 3 new support positions. Our Support Teams provide beneficial services to customers and our Sales Teams in a variety of ways and provide an important revenue stream for us.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and strong diagnostic/problem solving skills, have a flexible approach and be customer focused.  You should also have a full driving licence, preferably clean and a valid passport, as overseas travel may be required.

Special Projects Engineer – Edgecam/ Wakefield

Reporting to the Support Services Manager, this role will undertake special projects and bespoke programming and application services for customers and provide the UK & International sales teams with hi-end technical assistance when required.  Duties will include ensuring code-generators and special-projects are delivered to the customer in a timely manner and training of other team members, performing product demonstrations and assisting with sales and marketing projects, including exhibitions when needed.

Your qualification should be in Engineering, Science or Maths discipline; preferably with mechanical/production engineering or computing/IT with programming qualification supported with 3 years relevant commercial experience.  An understanding of CAD/CAM software would be an advantage.  You must have C++ development skills and experience in various high level languages eg: VB, Java.  Experience in using and deploying APIs in a graphics application will be an advantage.

Customer Support Engineer – Radan/ Bath

Reporting to the UK Support Manager, the role is to provide technical support, training, installation and consultancy to Radan customers.  Duties will include logging and managing technical queries relating to Radan products, investigating and resolving post sales support queries providing technical support to Sales team, the installation & configuration of products on customers’ sites as well as consultancy and training services to customers.

Your qualification should be in Engineering or Manufacturing discipline.  Customer service experience desirable, preferably in a similar IT support environment.

Customer Support Engineer – Jobshop/ Leicester

Reporting to the Support Team Leader, this is a first line support role to provide technical support services to Jobshop customers.  Duties will be all aspects of Helpdesk activities which include logging and managing technical queries relating to Jobshop products, influencing customers to use best practice to gain optimum value from their systems and investigating and resolving support queries.

Good level of education with a qualification in computing/ IT related discipline would be an advantage. Must have 12 months experience working in a support desk environment and able to demonstrate a practical working knowledge of Database technologies.  Good understanding and knowledge of working in a production/manufacturing environment would be an advantage.

Product Development Vacancies:

We are currently seeking 2 new product development positions. Our product development teams ensure that we continue to produce the best CAD/CAM solutions in the world.

Senior Web Applications Developer – Edgecam/Reading

We have a number of systems that are currently being used by one section of our business and we wish to enhance and roll these systems out to the remaining parts of the business. Currently these systems have been developed using Classic ASP and ASP.net but our objective is to move towards c#.net.  We also have a number of new applications that need to be developed and implemented from the project specification.

We are currently seeking a Senior Web Applications Developer to be based in our Reading Office, reporting to the Group Business Systems Development Manager, to work as part of the team, to develop business systems necessary to provide Planit with robust and effective processes, with compatible technology solutions, that support the company’s growth plans.

The main responsibilities are to develop specifications for the new systems based on discussions with the users, once the specifications have been agreed to then develop these systems using asp.net and/or c#.net. The main area of these systems is in the b2b area including online ordering.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Develop b2b web based applications for use with in the group and our world-wide customers and resellers
  • Assist/backup our Classic ASP developers to enable them to assist and backup the ASP.net applications
  • Migrate existing Classic ASP application to the .net environment
  • Using an integration tool such as Scribe/iBolt develop and maintain the integration between Microsoft Dynamics, Salesfoce.com and our bespoke systems
  • Maintain/support our existing ASP.net application

The primary skills required for the role are Visual Studio 2008 c#, ASP.net, Classic ASP, HTML and JavaScript with strong Microsoft SQL experience including Stored Procedures. Ideally the candidate should have more than 3 years experience in developing web based applications with asp.net and/or Classic ASP. Knowledge in Salesforce.com would be considered a huge advantage especially if this included some APEX development and as we will be moving to team server any experience in using the team server environment would be beneficial.

Candidates should be self motivated, have a history of successfully delivering projects “in full and on time” in a commercial environment, able to work with in a small team and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, as the position will require understanding users requirements and producing specifications.

Post Processor Engineer – Radan/Bath

We are currently seeking a Post Processor Engineer, to work as part of the Sales process and Support function, to primarily supply/create Post Processors and Configuration files to meet customer requirements for machine operations.  The duties will also include undertaking Post Processor investigations and to write software to make new or modify existing Post Processors as well as fix bugs of existing Post Processors to support new and existing customers.

Good A Levels essential, particularly Maths, but preferred candidates will have HNC or higher level qualification Engineering and be experienced in programming preferably post processors or operations of Sheet Metal CNC Machines including a good understanding of G Codes.  You will have the ability to write computer software and your Programming Language Skills will include Visual Basic & C; if you have experience of Radan MAC, then this will give you a distinct advantage.  Must be able to communicate well with others; especially customers.

Candidates will need have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate good problem solving skills, be customer focused and detail conscious and be able to plan and organise activities to ensure the delivery of customers’ requirements within the necessary timescales.
