Recommended Hardware and Operating Systems for Edgecam and Edgecam Part Modeler

Supported Operating Systems (32-bit versions only)

Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows Vista Business
Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate

The above operating systems running on a 64 bit PC are also supported.

Edgecam and Edgecam Part Modeler will install and run on the 'home' editions of the above operating systems (including Windows XP Home Edition, VISTA Home Basic, VISTA Home Premium). However this is not recommended and we cannot guarantee to fix any Edgecam or Edgecam Part Modeler issues specifically related to these operating systems.

We recommend you install the latest service packs for these operating systems.

Hardware

Processors
The recommended processors for Edgecam are the Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon.
Single core and dual core versions of the following processors are suitable for Edgecam installations:

• 32-bit Intel Pentium 4
• 64-bit Intel Pentium 4
• 32-bit AMD Athlon
• 64-bit AMD Athlon

The benefits of 64-bit processors for Edgecam are:

• Faster processing speed
• The use of separate processors for different applications

Edgecam does not:

• Utilize more than 2Gb RAM
• Support multi-threading, i.e. split Edgecam processing between the two processors

The minimum recommended hardware specifications for a new desktop PC to run Edgecam are:

• 32 or 64 bit Intel Pentium 4 processor or equivalent (such as AMD Athlon), in single
  or dual core versions
• 1 GB RAM
• 10 GB free disk space
• Graphics card capable of 1280 x 1024 high colour setting and 128Mb memory*
• 17" Colour monitor (1280 x 1024 screen resolution)
• Mouse including wheel (Intellimouse)
• Internet Explorer 6 or above
• USB port for the Edgecam security key (unless using Sentinel RMS keyless licensing)
• Network card
• Optional: SpaceBall and SpaceMouse

The Edgecam installer will install the following items if they are not already present
on your system:

• .NET Framework version 1.1 and .NET Framework version 2.0
• Microsoft SQL Server Express (for the Edgecam ToolStore)
